Introduction

Du Plessis Environmental Consulting Pty. Ltd (DuEC) was established in early 2014 and is owned and run by Johan du Plessis. At DuEC we appreciate the need for development and advances required for an equal society and the prosperity of generations to come, however more importantly strive for the conservation of the natural environment that is fundamental to this process. Based on this vision, DuEC can provide input into various stages of environmental planning and assessment, to ensure a sustainable impact on the natural environment whilst enabling development and progress.

DuEC is a small consultancy that specialises in environmental and ecological research, monitoring and assessment. I have been working in the environmental sector since 2009 during which time I have gained vast amounts of experience and knowledge in environmental management and control, ecological research and monitoring, environmental impact assessment and impact mitigation.

With a highly qualified and experienced team of sub-contracted professionals to call upon, DuEC can assist developers, contractors and private individuals with various levels of environmental and ecological assessment, management, monitoring and research input.

On bird-related projects DuEC works in close collaboration with AVISENSE Consulting and collectively have been involved in numerous large scale industrial and commercial projects throughout South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Mozambique and Kenya. Projects range from mining, electricity transmission and distribution networks, power generation that include large scale Wind, Solar, Hydro-electric and Gas driven facilities, and general infrastructure developments.  

More recently DuEC has been contracted to provide specialist ecological monitoring input to a Liquid Natural Gas Development in Mozambique, the monitoring scope covered various terrestrial and aquatic habitats and was aimed to determine overall impacts and develop effective mitigation strategies.
